BTW: a corpus-based Bilingual Terminological Wizard for Biology Studies

Our session presentation illustrates the design of a corpus-based Bilingual Terminological Wizard (BTW), an online tool to provide primary terminology services. The system is hyper-linked with a number of related Web sites both home and abroad, which would otherwise be separated islands of information. Its real advantage lies in helping the user explore or discuss on, in a cross-referenced way, biology and life science in both English and Chinese. The authors hold that it is fun and rewarding for biological students to study the biological terms by watching them attached with images and passages, interpreted, and understood in a bilingual way. This system of BTW is highly upgradeable as it flies with wings the fast-growing technology of Java and HTML, and the most important, the World Wide Web.
