SWISS-PROT: more than a protein sequence database

SWISS-PROT is a protein sequence and knowledge database that is recognized worldwide for providing high-quality annotation, minimal redundancy and extensive integration of other relevant databases. Information is gathered and continually updated from the current scientific literature, input from external experts and the application of high-performance bioinformatics tools. By using a standardised nomenclature and controlled vocabularies, SWISS-PROT brings together experimental results, computed features and sometimes even contradictory conclusions. The aim of this poster is to present a selection of key features to be found within the wealth of information that SWISS-PROT provides, with a special emphasis on latest developments.
