Session
Peer-to-Peer Systems in Ad-hoc Mobile Environment
Ekaterina Chtcherbina, Software Scientist, Siemens AG, Corporate Technology
Track: Untethered
Date: Thursday, May 16
Time: 4:45pm - 5:30pm
Location: Lawrence
This session explores peer-to-peer as enabling technology for an ad-hoc mobile environment. Peer-to-peer networking models are optimal for the dynamic wireless environment where spontaneous discovery and dynamic routing mechanisms are required. Mobile users could benefit from fully decentralized systems that do not assume existence of the permanent infrastructure. Peer-to-peer networking is identified as decentralized systems, however in reality many current peer-to-peer systems are centralized or use the hybrid approach. Ekaterina Chtcherbina discusses different approaches that can enable peering for mobile users taking into consideration ad-hoc networking philosophy as well as existing wireless technologies.
