Brian Jepson, Editor, O'Reilly Media, Inc.
Track: Emerging Technology Tutorial
Date: Monday, May 13
Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm

C# and the .NET Framework are building blocks of the .NET platform,
Microsoft's solution for developing software as a service. .NET provides a
secure, language-independent, and component-oriented platform for
developing web and desktop applications.
This tutorial is for beginning to intermediate programmers who want
to get started with the C# language and the .NET Framework Class
Library. Participants should have experience programming with another
language, and should have an understanding of the key object-oriented
concepts: abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.
Participants learn:
- the C# language
- the .NET Framework Class Library
- regular expressions and string manipulation
- interacting with networked resources (TCP/IP, HTTP)
- XML manipulation with XmlReader and XmlWriter
- Creating and consuming web services.
