The Software Infrastructure of SETI@home II
David Anderson, Chief Technology Officer, United Devices, Inc.
Track: Business
Date: Tuesday, May 14
Time: 5:15pm - 6:00pm
Location: Lawrence
The SETI@home project is preparing new searches
using different data sources and algorithms, and developing
the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC).
BOINC addresses the ability to distribute bandwidth and to rapidly deploy application versions - but it's designed to accommodate other distributed computing projects as well, including those with much different computational/data models. Projects are independent but share participants.
Participants can select their projects, and can control how their resources are divided among projects. BOINC is entirely open-source.
