The Internet is the greatest group-forming environment since the invention of land. We are putting ourselves together in new ways, from mailing lists to music sharing networks to buddy lists to XBox (shudder) fragfests.
However, e-groups seem to be a debased social form, lacking the richness of face-to-face groups, or is it that e-groups express our sociality in a purer form?
Because we are just at the beginning of this change, and because our schooling is in our old social form, can we still glimpse what will happen over the course of the next generation?
