Session

Peace, Love, and XML
Don Box, Microsoft Corporation

Track: Products and Services
Date: Thursday, February 12
Time: 4:00pm - 4:45pm
Location: California Ballroom A

XML offers us the opportunity to live together in peace and harmony (at least in terms of technology), yet XML-based technologies are often at the center of some of the industry's deepest rifts, feuds, and turf wars. This session looks at how we got here and speculates about where we'll wind up over the next three to five years. Questions to be addressed include:

Are the REST-afarians right?
Why do I need XHTML, WordML, and XAML?
Which WS-* protocols should you ignore?
Where are the next format wars coming from?
What lessons should SOAP have learned from XML-RPC?
What language innovations do we really need to deal with XML?
