"Just" Use HTTP
Sam Ruby, Senior Technical Staff Member, Emerging Technologies Group, IBM

Date: Tuesday, March 15
Time: 4:40pm - 5:25pm
Location: California Ballroom C

Unlike other talks about newly emerging topics, Ruby's centers around the reemergence of appreciation applications centered around the venerable HTTP protocol.

"Just use HTTP" is at the core of a number of suggestions, and can truly represent a radical simplification in one's architecture. However, such an approach is not as well understood as you might think. There are a number of pitfalls and surprises that one should be aware of, many of which apply equally as well to traditional SOAP based web services.

Topics such as character encoding, http scalability, uris, and xml escaping, will be covered.
