SOLD OUT Net Objects Workshop
Tom Igoe, Assistant Arts Professor, ITP/NYU
Raffi C. Krikorian, Synthesis Studios, Inc.

Date: Monday, March 14
Time: 8:30am - 12:00pm
Location: California Ballroom A

This is a hands-on hardware workshop for programmers with an interest in embedded hardware devices. We'll introduce participants to some simple off-the-shelf modules for networking sensors and other embedded devices, Bluetooth communication, RFID readers, and public display signage. We'll also talk about how to make connections between these kinds of devices and standard web service applications.

After a brief introduction to programming on simple microcontrollers in BASIC, we'll introduce input and output fundamentals. Then we'll concentrate on protocols for communication with other devices and networks.

Projects developed in the workshop will be on display and functioning for the rest of the conference, contributing to the information flow ecology of the conference itself.

NOTE: Due to the hands-on nature of this tutorial, class size is limited to 30 participants.
