ICTs and the Developing World

Date: Monday, March 14
Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: California Ballroom B

Moderated by Jude Griffin, Senior Manager, Management Sciences for Health

What are the possibilities for emerging technologies in the developing world? How do technological leapfrogging and socioeconomic/politcal contexts affect the potential evolution of ICTs and development in Asia, Africa, and Latin America? Should we focus our efforts on delivery mechanisms compatible with a cell phone/PDA hybrid as opposed to the desktop computers? What is the most useful insight to come out of the most recent $100 computer imbroglio? What role do telecenters play?

I work in a nonprofit which designs and delivers ICT technical assistance and products in the developing world and am interested in a lively, respectful discussion of people’s experience and ideas related to ICTs and the developing world.
