SessionSecure Syndication
Joe Gregorio, Senior Software Engineer, IBM
Gregorio has a problem; it's actually a pretty common problem; he has data that he wants to syndicate to himself, but he doesn't want you to see it. It's private, meaning that it could be a credit card balance or internal bug reports for the day job. Either way, he wants the information in a form suitable for syndication but not available to everyone. The solution he presents is a feed that is syndicated with the content encrypted in a microformat and the decryption is done in the browser, not in the aggregator. This is at it's most basic level a demonstration of using Greasemonkey and microformats to decrypt syndicated content. It's also a demo of how to give a service like Bloglines an upgrade without needing their involvement at all. In the big picture, this is talk about the power of moving microformatted content via Atom.
