SessionWeb Apps Without the Web
Steve Yen, CEO & Founder, TrimPath
The TrimPath Junction framework lets you build web MVC (Model-View-Controller) applications that can run offline, so your web-based apps can run even when a web connection isn't available.
The Junction API is a clone of the Ruby on Rails API, although into the JavaScript language. Like Rails, Junction respects power users, so you can leverage all those tricks and tips you already know about web programming: HTML, CSS, MVC, SQL, although everything might be running offline in the browser. Unlike Rails, you have to consider disconnected situations, out-of-sync caches, and synchronization judo. Junction also includes a miniature in-browser development environment that works well for quick changes and prototyping. We'll walk through a "Getting Things Done" todo-list management application built on Junction, and see how you can start tweaking your first Junction application in 10 seconds. |
