Charles Armstrong is an ethnographer turned technology entrepreneur. He studied social and political science at St. John's College Cambridge and was mentored by the eminent sociologist Lord Young of Dartington. Following a year-long study of information sharing on an island of 80 people Charles founded Trampoline Systems (www.trampolinesystems.com) to translate social mechanisms into enterprise software. Trampoline's products harness collective intelligence to pinpoint expertise, leverage relationships and relay knowledge where it's needed. The company's client list includes Raytheon Company, the UK Foreign Office and Channel 4 Television. Trampoline received a UK Government Research Award in 2004 and Oracles UK Partner Innovation Award for 2006. The company raised series A finance of $5.8m from the Tudor Group in March 2007.
