Comet is a general term encapsulating the idea of a website sending realtime events to the browser. While the idea seems primitive (we've had IM for over a decade now), the implementation inside a browser is actually quite maddening. The results can be spectacular, however, and they open up the browser to new, compelling realtime experiences like Lingr, Meebo, Writely, etc.
Join us as we discuss the principles of Comet, as well as the practical aspects of actually building and deploying a Comet-based web application.
All skill levels from interested bystander through grizzled, disillusioned veteran are welcome.
