TJ Kang

CEO, ThinkFree

TJ Kang brings over 20 years of diversified experience in executive management, technology development, marketing and sales to ThinkFree. He currently leads the strategic direction of the company, serving as CEO.

TJ has worked throughout his professional life to create alternatives to the dominant status quo, providing solutions that reframe how individuals work by offering freedom of choice within the office suite market. As a serial entrepreneur and technology visionary, TJ co-founded ThinkFree in 1999 in order to introduce a unique Web-based productivity suite.

In 1983 TJ co-invented the first Korean word processing software. Prior to ThinkFree, TJ founded and ran several software companies in North America and Asia. His extensive experience in developing productivity applications has allowed him to deliver an online office suite that is the most compatible with current standards and has the highest level of functionality available.

TJ has been profiled in Fortune magazine, presented at conferences such as ETech, The New New Internet, Office 2.0, and was invited to DEMO twice to launch new Web services. TJ received an M.A. degree in cognitive psychology and B.Sc. degrees in psychology and computer science from the University of Toronto.

His many hobbies – such as writing prose, fiction and non-fiction, snowboarding and playing the cello – help inform his vision of building a truly collaborative productivity service.
