Jabber/XMPP technologies are best known as a platform for instant messaging. Recently the Jabber Software Foundation, in cooperation with the Google Talk team and other industry leaders, published a set of XMPP protocol extensions (called "Jingle") for managing peer-to-peer sessions such as voice and video. This talk provides an overview of Jingle and its niche in the emerging telephony space.
