Service Oriented Networks - Innovation at the Edge
Track: BOF
Date: Tuesday, January 24
Time: 7:30pm
- 8:30pm
Location: Bayside I
Moderated by Michael Chack, Sylantro Systems
This session discusses the trends and opportunities for developers to exploit Service Oriented Networks. The traditional PSTN has been very much a closed network. The advent of new network services from providers such as Skype, Google and other hosted voip platforms will enable developers to do what they do best, create compelling services without having to worry about supporting basic network infrastructure. The "killer app" is dead, but the ability to incorporate "killer" capabilities into new and existing portals and applications is just beginning.
This session will provide hands on demonstrations of a variety of web2.0 "mashups" leveraging services from a variety of providers such as Tellme, Google, Salseforce.com and Sylantro Systems as a means of illustrating how new service platforms can be exploited to deliver sticky applications.
