Keynote

The Future of Voice

Jerry Thompson, British Telcom

Date: Thursday, March 01
Time: 9:30am - 9:45am
Location: Salon ABCDE

For most incumbent telecommunications service providers, new voice technologies may be viewed as a threat to the highly profitable PSTN/POTS business model. At British Telecom, however, VoIP technology and the Internet are seen to provide some exciting new opportunities to grow new business models, using the incumbent customer base and customer service organization as a competitive advantage.

Wendy McMillan, general manager of voice at British Telecom, will outline their strategy for building profitable Web 2.0 communications business models on the back of their incumbent market power in traditional voice communications and introduce BT Contact, their latest product in the Web 2.0 communications space.
