Tero Ojanperä is executive vice president and chief technology officer of Nokia. Nokia is the world leader in mobile communications, expanding mobility into new areas such as imaging, games, entertainment, media, and enterprises.Ojanperä is responsible for corporate and technology strategy, strategic alliances and partnerships, research, standardization, intellectual property rights, venturing, S60 SW platform sales and marketing, Forum Nokia developer support activities, and business infrastructure.
Before being appointed to his current role, Ojanperä held the position of chief strategy officer and was head of the Nokia Research Center (NRC), from 2002-2004.
Ojanperä has played a defining role in the research and development work of Nokias business groups since joining the company in 1990. Throughout his career he has consistently shown an ability to balance the strong elements of his scientific background with Nokias broader business strategies.
Ojanperä is a highly respected industry commentator and author of the book WCDMA for Third Generation Mobile Communications (1998), and its second edition WCDMA: Towards IP Mobility and Mobile Internet (2001).
He holds a masters of science degree from the University of Oulu, Finland, and a Ph.D. degree from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
