Andrew Rens

Andrew Rens is the Legal Lead for Creative Commons South Africa (http://za.creativecommons.org), a co-founder of The African Commons Project ( http://theafricancommonsproject.wordpress.com/) and moderator of the cc-enterprise discussion list. As a fellow at the Stanford Center for Internet and Society (http://cyberlaw.stanford.edu/blogs/rens) for 2005-6 his research focused on access to knowledge, collaborative creative works and the legal issues of the Digital Divide. After qualifying as an attorney Andrew Rens taught law and practiced human rights litigation at the Wits Law Clinic (http://wwwserver.law.wits.ac.za/clinic/clinicindex.htm). He subsequently taught Master’s courses in Intellectual Property, Telecommunications, Broadcasting, Space and Satellite, and Media Law and pioneered a course in Information Technology Law at Wits Law School (http://www.law.wits.ac.za). He is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa where he consults on ITC and IP, through Johannesburg Law firm Garratt Mbuyisa, and research through the LINK Center.
