Session

Mozilla as a Development Platform
Axel Hecht, Mozilla Europe

Track: Linux
Date: Tuesday, 18 October 2005
Time: 16:00 - 16:45
Location: Grand Ballroom

After the successful launch of Mozilla Firefox in the last year, Mozilla is growing strong on the platform front recently. With the ongoing developments in standards support on the one hand and more focus on the platform and its documentation on the other, Mozilla is becoming a viable development platform for web applications and thin client cross platform applications. The talk will introduce emerging technoligies like XULRunner, SVG, canvas, and others, building an attractive platform with a smooth entry barrier.

The talk will explain how to leverage the knowledge in web technologies to create small, localizable and cross platform applications with XUL, JavaScript, SVG and further emerging technoligies and standards.
