In the past few months, web applications like Google Maps have pioneered the use of highly dynamic, rich, interactive HTML/JavaScript interfaces--recently branded as "Ajax." Seemingly overnight, ajaxian techniques have transformed the web from generally rather stale and boring to an exciting platform for UI innovation.
While the core principles behind Ajax are simple, building on them to produce complex applications can be difficult and expensive.
Fortunately, open source frameworks such as Dojo and Prototype are leading the charge towards standardizing ajaxian effects and commoditizing their cost for mainstream web projects.
As webmasters of ajaxian.com, Ben Galbraith and Dion Almaer have been closely following the Ajax revolution. In this session, Almaer and Galbraith discuss the state of Ajax, including a brief introduction, then focus on a review of the current open source frameworks, including examples of their usage through live coded examples.
