Eclipse (www.eclipse.org) is well known as an open source project dedicated to providing a
robust platform for developing highly integrated tools (IDE) and rich client applications. This presentation begins by describing the platform's plug-in architecture--the key to enabling Eclipse's extensibility and the steady growth of the Eclipse ecosystem. Baeumer then presents an overview of the existing platform plug-ins and demonstrates how you can leverage these plug-ins to build rich clients applications and IDE extensions. Finally, Baeumer provides some insights into the Eclipse development process, and how this process enables continuous and on-time delivery of milestones and releases.
