Session
Enterprise E-mail is Broken
John Robb, VP of Products and Marketing, Zimbra
Track: Products & Services
Date: Tuesday, 18 October 2005
Time: 16:50 - 17:35
Location: St. John's Room II
Enterprise email is broken - challenges like overflowing inboxes, the overhead of organizing correspondence, as well as the cost of managing storage, availability, retention, compliance, and so on are all conspiring to make corporate email an interminable source of frustration among users and administrators alike. Major changes are on the horizon, and these changes are being accelerated by companies that are leveraging the Linux and Open Source communities to deliver innovative new collaboration solutions. This session will highlight and demonstrate what's in store for enterprise messaging:
- Fixing email: what's broken in enterprise messaging today
- Technology demonstration: Some concrete proposals for the future
- Architectural issues (AJAX, search, extensibility, performance, caching, security, fault tolerance,
retention/archiving, etc.)
