Mark Herring is responsible for product positioning and overall marketing
strategy for Sun's Forte Tools. This group is pioneering new business
practices to better serve the development community, including the release
of open source integrated development environments (IDEs), modular tool
products from Sun and third parties, and a Web portal for product sales and
Herring joined Sun Microsystems in October 1999 as a result of Sun's
Acquisition of Forte Software. Prior to joining Forte, he was product
marketing manager for Oracle's client/server tools (Developer/2000 and
Designer/2000). Previously at Oracle, he was manager of the Tools
Technical Support Group. Earlier in his career, he served as an IS
consultant for Infomet, a CASE products firm, and as a project manager for
a major international bank.
Herring holds a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of
Witwaterstrand of South Africa.
