A Lack of Conflicts in EOF, or "Hey Mom, Someone Overwrote My Data!"
mmalcolm Crawford, Apple Computer, Inc.

Track: Unix
Date: Wednesday, October 02
Time: 1:30pm - 2:15pm
Location: Winchester

The Enterprise Objects Framework documentation leaves some developers with the impression that it is not possible for users of a WebObjects application to overwrite each other's data. Experience shows, unfortunately, that this is not always the case, and some developers remain confused as to when data will be silently overwritten and when conflicts will be detected. In this presentation, mmalcom Crawford aims to reduce that confusion, and shows how to avoid such problems. Specific topics include optimistic locking, the database context, snapshots, conflict detection, and multiple database connections.
