Tom Goguen, Worldwide Product Marketing, Apple
David O'Rourke, Apple
Track: Servers and Networking
Date: Tuesday, October 01
Time: 11:30am - 12:15pm
Location: Winchester
Apple's new Open Directory architecture introduced in Mac OS X v10.2 and Mac OS X Server v10.2 promises an open standards based approach to directory services and desktop management. Through Open Directory, Jaguar systems can use LDAPv3 for accessing information about users, groups, and computers from any LDAPv3 directory server. The Open Directory architecture has been submitted to Darwin, Apple's open source project, the UNIX foundation for Mac OS X. Goguen and O’Rourke discuss Open Directory and associated API's, providing attendees with information on how to configure Jaguar systems for directory-based desktop management and how to build and use directory-aware applications for Jaguar and Jaguar Server.
