Rendezvous was released less than a year and a half ago and yet it has already changed the Mac experience in deep ways. Rendezvous is based on the simple question, "If we've settled on IP for communicating in wide area networks, why don't we do the same in local networks?"

In this hands-on workshop, we'll look at the three legs of the solution: obtaining an IP address without DHCP, obtaining a locally unique name without DNS, and browsing for services in a manner that is both computer- and human-friendly. Bring your laptop--we'll work on an extended example of Rendezvous enabling an application.
