Are you a user of Mac OS X who wants to become a *power* user? Mac author Dan Frakes shows you the tips and tricks used by the Mac OS Xperts. Take advantage of Mac OS X's built-in capabilities, as well as third-party software, to make your Mac do what you want, when you want, how you want. Streamline and enhance your Mac to do things faster and more easily. Use Mac OS X's multi-user environment to your benefit. All levels of users will enjoy this session as they learn how to:

  • Finagle the Finder
  • Develop the Dock
  • Leverage Login
  • Connect Conveniently
  • Master Maintenance
  • Supercharge Sharing
  • Print Practically
  • Strengthen Security
  • Presented in a tip-by-tip style, this session shows you how to do many useful (and just plain cool) things you haven’t thought of yet. Says Frakes, "My session focuses on getting OS X to do the kinds of things you either want to be able to do, but Mac don't know how, or didn't know it could do, but make you say 'Hey, that's cool!' once you learn ;-) It's about become a more capable user, but also about making your everyday computer use fun again."

Frakes also has a prediction for how technology will affect how we live in the future: "I've been using iChat AV and a new iSight camera for video conferencing over the past few weeks. I never really gave video conferencing a second thought before, but now I use it daily to communicate with colleagues all over the country. There's no substitute for face-to-face communication, and to be able to do it at a moment's notice has really changed the way I work. It's one of those things that wins you over after only a single use. I think that this is one technology that will catch on quickly and will become a normal a part of our lives."
