We will be presenting and discussing some of the key features of an enterprise server system and whether they will be necessary for the latest Apple G5 architecture to make it in the enterprise space.
High Performance Networking: What features does the current G5 have that will allow it to perform well as a high performance NAS server? What features are missing? (Some topics: QOS, Zero Copy, fine grained locking, checksum offload, Large send offload, VLAN, Load Balancing).
High Performance fileserving: Can the G5 do it?
Some topics: Guaranteed bandwidth, directIO, iSCSI, failover, Clustered filesystems.
RAS (reliability and Serviceability): ECC memory, Rack mounting, redundant power, hot plug, partitioning.
