Dan Shafer

Dan Shafer is a long-time computer book author, lecturer, and software developer known for his advocacy on behalf of inventive users, a category of technology users he defined under that rubric in the 1970s. The author of more than 60 published computer titles, Dan is a frequent contributor to magazines on subjects such as end-user and visual programming, Web development, and online community creation and management. He was the first Webmaster and Director of Technology for Salon.com and for more than four years was CNET.coms Master Builder. An expert at using the cross-platform development tool Runtime Revolution, Dan has authored a book on that product, spoken at international conferences, and has designed and managed the development of several projects in OS X targeted for cross-platform deployment. He and his wife, Carolyn, and their dog Einstein, live in Monterey.
