Starting from Version 5.1, MySQL supports a powerful and robust mechanism for adding extensions to the serves—so called "plugins." Ease of use, security, extensibility, user-friendliness—these are just a few highlights of the new interface. This talk will describe the Plugin API, how to use it and what plugin types are supported. During the talk we will develop together a simple but nevertheless useful plugin from scratch.
