SessionZimbra: Modernizing the Messaging Architecture
Scott Dietzen, President and CTO, Zimbra
Enterprise email is broken. From the pain involved in managing message metadata to the inefficiency of requiring multiple message storage, IT administrators have long bemoaned the task of implementing a scalable, affordable, reliable messaging architecture.
Leveraging the open source community and MySQL's database expertise and efficiency, Zimbra has altered the way administrators control their email servers through the development of a more effective back-end for its messaging architecture. Open source technologies such as Linux and MySQL enable Zimbra to provide better caching and reduced write overhead, which dramatically decreases cost, a longstanding barrier to scalability in messaging systems. Additionally, the solution is easier to deploy and manage than legacy collaboration solutions. This session will explore ways in which MySQL, Zimbra, and the open source community have helped to improve the performance and flexibility of a modern messaging/applications architecture.
