SOLD OUT - Like Voltron, Ask Hansen and Jay Pipes combine to form an unstoppable performance tuning machine! These two database professionals will teach tutorial attendees very different sides of performance tuning, with each presenter drawing from their individual experiences as a DBA and a developer.
Jay Pipes will be covering concepts of profiling your MySQL queries and schema architecture to squeeze the most performance out of memory-starved or I/O-bound applications, as well as give advice on rewriting problematic SQL code into more streamlined and efficient set-based statements. He will also be covering the ins and outs of using MySQL's various storage engines to mitigate certain performance bottlenecks and take advantage of the various engines' abilities.
Ask Hansen will be covering the overall platform and architecture considerations involved in tuning applications from a holistic perspective. Hansen will show how to begin designing scaleable architectures for dynamic, high-volume web sites. Topics covered include caching, replication architecture, load-balancing, and architectural decisions derived from many years of experience.
