Lars Thalmann will walk through the new development of MySQL Online Backup and the features it brings. The new backup engine architecture is making it possible to use storage engine specific backup capabilities and make consistent online backups over multiple engines.

For storage engines without native backup capability there is a default driver. The architecture and the interface to create backup engines is discussed.

Paddy Sreenivasan will join Lars Thalmann in demonstrating MySQL Online Backup with Zmanda Recovery Manager (ZRM) for MySQL -- Enterprise backup and recovery manager for MySQL databases. The demo will highlight features of ZRM for MySQL and how administrators can take advantage of the solution.
