Primetime ODBC: Constructing ODBC Applications and the ODBC 5.0 Roadmap

Jess Balint, MySQL
Anders Karlsson, Sales Engineer and Consultant, MySQL
Gerardo Narvaja, Sales Engineer, MySQL

Track: Architecture and Technology
Date: Thursday, April 26
Time: 11:50am - 12:35pm
Location: Ballroom E

In this jam-packed 45-minute session, Anders Karlsson, Gerardo Narvaja, and Jess Balint will outline everything you need to know to get started creating applications powered by MySQL and using the Connector/ODBC driver.

Jess Balint will describe the future of Connector/ODBC, the features currently in development for the new Connector/ODBC 5.0 driver, and what the road ahead looks like for ODBC developers. Narvaja and Karlsson will present how to install the ODBC driver on your client system and configure DSNs properly.

Afterwards, examples will be shown using Microsoft Access as a front-end to a MySQL back-end. Following that, an example that uses Crystal Reports as a front-end reporting application to the ODBC data store will be demonstrated.
