MySQL is a very easy database to set up and use, but to create a secure environment there are several additional considerations. We will discuss the basic considerations of general database security as they affect MySQL and discuss creating applications that adhere to regulatory guidelines for security. Our approach will be data-centric, and will emphasize the importance of assuring the security of the data throughout their lifetime.
