A Brief Overview of Apache 2.01

Ryan Bloom

Track: Apache Tutorial
Date: Tuesday, July 18
Time: 1:30pm - 5:00pm
Location: San Carlos I

Who Should Attend:
Anybody interested in how Apache is evolving the months and years to come should attend this presentation.

This presentation covers the newest release of the Apache Web Server, Apache 2.0. We will focus on Multi-processing Moldules (MPMs), porting Apache 1.3 modules to 2.0, and the new Apache Portable Run-time (APR). The MPM portion of the presentation will focus on the current MPM's and why they were created. The module portion will focus on what module authors need to know to get their modules up and running on 2.0 quickly. Finally, the APR portion will focus on the newest part of the Apache project, what it provides for us, and why we decided to write it. I also hope to convince people that this project will make writing portable programs much easier.
