Teaching Perl to Beginning Programmers

Nathan Torkington, Conference Chair, O'Reilly Media, Inc.

Track: Birds-Of-A-Feather
Date: Tuesday, July 18
Time: 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Location: De Anza III

Summary:First-time programmers have different expectations and skills from experience programmers, so teaching them Perl requires different pacing, presentation, and skills. All Perl trainers are welcome, especially those with experience teaching Perl to new programmers. We'll talk about how we did it, what worked and what didn't, and how to do better next time.
