Ticketmaster consciously strives for innovative cost-effective technology solutions, unfettered by fixed and partisan notions on the classic "build vs. buy" arguments and the religious wars of platform and language that can pummel an organization. We'll look at the present and future development of Ticketmaster's two major Web platforms: ticketmaster.com, a high-volume e-commerce site built using open source technology, and citysearch.com built using Microsoft software. Ticketmaster is evaluating whether to move completely to open source. We'll review this decision-making process, examining the why, when, and how of making this move.
