Joshua Chamas

Josh Chamas is a Senior Consultant with MySQL, specializing in database migrations and performance tuning. He graduated from Stanford with a B.S.C.S., and has been involved in numerous database migrations especially to and from Oracle and MySQL over the past 9 years. He has been responsible for performance analysis and database tuning for large web clusters servicing millions of users, as well as data warehousing applications up to a terabyte in size.

In 1999, he became involved with MySQL while migrating a high performance OLTP database from Oracle, and wrote part of the core MyISAM storage engine to make it more scalable for this project, as well as adding other ANSI SQL syntactic glue to facilitate general migration work.
