Learn the broad range of concepts and capabilities of Zope in this introducotry tutorial including:

  • The architecture of the Zope environment.
  • The Zope Management Interface.
  • Zope's server-side scripting languages: DTML and ZPT.
  • Creating custom Zope object classes (ZClasses).
  • Using Python to build business logic, and extend Zope.

Attendees will gain knowledge of the Zope architecture and learn how Zope is used to effectively develop and manage a robust corporate Web site. We'll include excerpts from the Zope Essentials curriculum developed by Kaivo, Inc. in partnership with Zope Corporation.

Beginning by introducing Zope as a key player in the powerful Open Source software development movement, we'll explore the Zope architecture to understand its key components. After a brief examination of Zope features, we'll explore using Zope to develop and manage Web-based applications.

The Zope tutorial introduces the fundamentals of programming Zope using Python including a discussion of through-the-Web Python scripting and development and inclusion of external Python modules.
