Python and XML: A Tutorial
Keyton Weissinger, Key Focus, Inc.
Track: Python
Date: Tuesday, July 23
Time: 8:45am - 12:15pm
Location: Marina III
Python and XML: Two great tastes that taste great together! In this tutorial, learn more about manipulating XML than you ever thought possible in three hours. The power of Python makes XML manipulation child’s play and at the end of this tutorial you will have learned how to play.
In the first hour, we will introduce the subject of Python and XML and dive into a meaty overview of Python and the SAX API. We will cover the construction of event and error handlers and then implement some in a sample application.
In the next hour, we will tackle Python and the DOM. This powerful combination gives great flexibility over XML documents. We will cover nodes, nodes, and more nodes. From finding nodes in a DOM to changing and building nodes, this hour will be chock full of DOM manipulation in Python. Again, we will act on what we know with some real code examples.
In the closing hour of this tutorial, we will hit the road on a tour of the many sights left in the combination of Python and XML. We’ll start with a quick overview and example of XPath and then move on to XSLT. As with the previous two hours, we will see it in slides and experience it in action with live code demonstrations!
So come one, come all! Python and XML is the future. Jump on board. You won’t be disappointed.
