Session
Enterprise Level SQL with PostgreSQL
Gavin M. Roy
Track: Databases
Date: Wednesday, July 24
Time: 2:30pm - 3:15pm
Location: Grande Ballroom B
The core of any corporate data center is the database system. As a true Open Source RDBMS, PostgreSQL competes with the likes of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server for a place in corporate back offices. In this session we will cover the concepts and language of talking to PostgreSQL.
- Syntax - How to talk to PostgreSQL via it's standard SQL compliance.
- Performance - Why some requests take longer than others, and how to make the most complicated queries faster.
- Robustness - Using transactions to protect the investment of your corporate data.
- Functionality - Extend your manipulation of your data with built-in procedures and functions
This presentation will start simple and attempt to explain the more advanced topics surrounding maximizing the benefits of PostgreSQL in the enterprise.
