The process of mutation and selection has led to such marvels as the human genome. However, the same forces that lead to an occasional evolutionary advance more frequently result in painful genetic diseases. Evolution occurs not only in the development of species, but in the development of an immune response, and even the development of cancer. This talk examines the many faces of evolution, and compares them to human design both in software and in genetic engineering. Available as a 19.9 MB .mp3 download.
