The Care and Feeding of the PHP Community
Jim Winstead, MySQL, Inc.

Track: PHP
Date: Thursday, July 25
Time: 3:45pm - 4:30pm
Location: Harbor Island I

The PHP community is large, very active, and also very diverse. There's a number of extremely active mailing lists (also available as newsgroups), an active bug tracking system, an interactive online manual (fully or partially translated into more than a dozen languages), and more community websites and user groups than you can shake a stick at. But there's no single corporate entity behind all of this. How did we pull it off? How do we keep it all going, and growing? This talk will cover how the PHP community grew, where the resources to support the community has come from, and perhaps help uncover how some of the lessons could be applied to other projects.
