If you run or participate in an open source project, you must take steps to protect your intellectual property, and to make sure that your resulting product is legitimately available for distribution under an open source license. You should also be aware of the requirements of the law relating to copyrights, patents, trademarks, contracting and employment relationships. This talk will highlight the legal issues that you should consider and suggest appropriate ways to organize your projects to protect your interests.
