Security needs to be built-in, not bolted on. Mac OS X uses an industrial-strength implementation of the Common Data Security Architecture (CDSA) to manage all the cryptographic information used throughout the system, and we've provided a comprehensive architecture for supporting local, network, and legacy applications.
To ensure optimal peer-review, we've made the code Open Source, and are encouraging other its adoption by other Open Source operating systems.
