The World Wide Web Consortium produced the first edition of the Extensible Markup language (XML) Specification in 1988. Since then, XML has become widely used in areas both anticipated by the designers and totally unexpected.
Liam Quin, XML Activity Lead at the W3C, will give
- an overview of the W3C and W3C processes, how to navigate the W3C web site and understand the status of documents
- information on getting involved with the XML Community and with the W3C, and on how to submit comments
- the status of the XML Specification itself, and the XML 1.1 draft
- the status of specifications that build on XML, and that are recently published or still being developed, including XML Include, XML Query, XSLT 2.0 and XPath directions, XML Schema, RDF and others
