RELAX NG is an elegant yet simple schema language for XML, developed under the auspices of OASIS and now on track to become an international standard (ISO/IEC DIS 19757-2). It not only has an XML syntax but also a compact, non-XML syntax. Fitzgerald’s presentation covers most aspects of writing RELAX NG schemas and validation using open source software, such as Jing and Trang. RELAX NG's relationship to Schematron and W3C XML Schema will also be discussed.
